Frequently Asked Questions
Spiders
Spider treatments can be done year-round, but activity tends to increase as the weather warms—making September onward an ideal time to act. If you’re noticing a buildup of spider webs around the exterior of your home, we recommend treating both the outside surfaces and the roof cavity for thorough protection.
During the colder months, spider sightings drop off—but that doesn’t mean they’re gone. Many spiders, including white-tailed spiders, retreat into roof cavities to nest and live. Targeting these areas helps eliminate the source. Treating the roof cavity is particularly important for getting white-tailed spiders under control.
Yes, we recommend spraying inside the house to control spiders/whitetails.
The product we use, is a top-of-the-line residual product that controls a wide range of insects with long lasting results.

Wasps
Most of the worker wasps die off with the frosts. But the Queen hibernates through winter and this is why some people see wasps in their wood piles and roof cavities.
Move away and don’t touch or disturb it. Give us a call on 03 313 1443 and we can take care of this for you.
We inject the nest with a powder that will kill the nest from the inside out. If possible, we will remove the nest.
Immediately after the powder is applied, there’s a lot of activity around the nest, but this will settle down after about 30 minutes. It’s important to keep people and animals away and windows and doors closed.
Once treated, most wasp nests become inactive within 24 to 48 hours. You should notice a significant drop-in activity during that time.
Honey bees are furry, dull in colour, while wasps usually have smooth shiny brightly coloured skin. Wasps are narrow-waisted, and have 4 wings with a distinct black and yellow pattern.
Give us a call and we can direct you to the right people that will remove the bees nest for you. We don’t kill bees, we save them.
Wasps are real pests in NZ, with the numbers increasing, people need to ensure that if they find a nest, please give us a call as we need to get the wasp population under control.
Rodents
There are a few ways they can gain access, one way being the breather holes at the bottom of the house or the gaps around pipes. A mouse can fit through a gap the thickness of your little finger and a rat to the thickness of your thumb.
Once they gain access through the breather holes or pipes, they climb up the inside of the walls and up into the roof cavity.
Another common way is if you have branches or trees leaning up against your house. So, it’s always advisable to trim these back a metre from your roof.
No, that is not true. A lot of plumbers will tell you this however, the 2nd generation bait used today, is anticoagulant bait, so it does not make the rodents thirsty. Rodents will chew through insulation pipes, wiring etc because rats need to keep gnawing as their teeth are constantly growing.
If you are unlucky enough to have a rodent die in the wall, there is little we can do unless you want to cut the wall open to remove it. However, we can supply you with odour remover bags which you place beside the wall, and this draws the odour to the bag which lessons the smell.
We offer a range of effective options to suit your specific requirements. Our lockable rat and mouse stations are designed for use both indoors and outdoors and are completely pet/child-safe. You can choose to manage these stations yourself—we’ll show you exactly how to service them—or leave it to us. We provide flexible servicing plans on a monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly basis for both residential and commercial properties.
If your dog accidentally ingests rodent bait, veterinarians know that a Vitamin K1 injection is the required treatment. However, prevention is key. That’s why it’s crucial not to leave bait scattered loosely. Always use secure, lockable bait stations to keep pets—and children—safe while effectively managing rodent activity.
As temperatures drop and food becomes scarce, rodents begin searching for warmth, shelter, and sustenance—often finding it inside your home or barn. Unfortunately, their presence becomes most noticeable at night, when the house is quiet and you can hear scratching sounds in the roof or walls. That noise? It’s them nesting. Controlling the rodent population is essential, as they can reproduce rapidly under the right conditions, turning a small problem into a major infestation in no time.
Every situation is unique—people have different needs, and no two properties are the same. The best way to get started is to give us a call on 03 313 1443. We’ll provide a quote tailored specifically to your requirements.
Flies
Please call and speak to our staff as there are many types of flies. Each has its own habits and challenges, making effective control all the more important.
The inside of your home is great place to treat—after all, no one wants flies buzzing around their kitchen, living spaces, or bedrooms. But don’t forget the outside. Flies are drawn to warm surfaces and often sunbathe on the exterior walls of your house as they heat up in the sun. Spraying these areas can help reduce the number of flies entering your home. Another key spot? Your patio or outdoor entertaining area. These sheltered, warm spaces are fly magnets, so treating them can make a big difference in keeping your environment comfortable and pest-free. Flies come in many types—each with its own habits and challenges. For tailored solutions and expert recommendations, please call and speak to our knowledgeable staff. We’re here to help you take control.
Because our spray is a contact spray, we target the areas where flies are most likely to land and rest. This ensures maximum effectiveness.
We typically spray:
- Ceilings – Flies often settle overhead, especially in warm rooms.
- Window frames – A common entry point and resting spot for flies.
- Door frames – Another high-traffic area where flies tend to linger.
- Curtains – Flies love soft, shaded surfaces, making curtains a prime location.
By focusing on these key areas, we help reduce fly activity and keep your home more comfortable and hygienic
Yes! Our spray is a pyrethroid-based formula, which means it’s perfectly safe for both indoor and outdoor plants. Pyrethroids are derived from natural compounds found in chrysanthemum flowers and are widely used in pest control for their effectiveness and low toxicity to plants. You can confidently treat fly-prone areas without worrying about harming your greenery.
Avoid leaving rubbish or compost bins too close to your home—these spots are prime breeding grounds for flies.
If you have a dog, be sure to clean up regularly. Pet waste can quickly attract flies.
We also offer fly catch bags, which are incredibly effective. Simply hang the bag from a tree or another spot well away from the house to lure flies in. These bags can trap hundreds of flies, making a noticeable difference!
This spray is effective against a whole host of pests. It targets:
- Spiders
- Flies
- Silverfish
- Fleas
- Ants
- Small beetles and bugs that come into direct contact with it
Basically, if it crawls or flies and isn’t paying rent, this spray has got it covered.
